Reliability Engineer - Wakefield

What you become part of:

Wakefield Operations is the largest plant in CCEP and the biggest soft drink plant in Europe which produces over 50% of GB’s volume across their 8 manufacturing and 2 preform manufacture lines.  The site can produce 460,000 cans per hour and 132,000 bottles per hour. There are over 300 employees across Manufacturing, QESH and Engineering, experience here can lead to excellent career opportunities both in Wakefield and further afield across other GB sites and Pan-European locations.

What to expect:

The Reliability Engineer is a pivotal Site role and in partnership with your Asset Care Planner (ACP) it is to deliver through successful ME performance, the Factory volume plans. Working in close partnership with the Production Manager it is graded as a Band 100 (professional banding) to reflect the level of responsibility, flexibility of hours and approach plus the commitment required, to deliver a demanding role in a Factory that operates 24/7.
Key to the role are a number of core elements which you will be expected to master :-

  • The Site currently operates its maintenance on 6 year life plans with modular and major overhauls. Your role with the ACP is the planning, scheduling and execution of these plans to ensure that line start up after overhaul, hits its targets for quality, safety and ME performance all within your budget (which you will have complete control of for your area).
  • Current maintenance plans focus on efficiency i.e. have you delivered 100% PM compliance. However, your role is to deliver the effectiveness of the maintenance to ensure that what you are doing, delivers the most cost-effective maintenance for the plant and ultimately ME performance. Your focus will be to move the balance of maintenance from costly breakdown reactive maintenance through to planned and ultimately predictive and to be able to demonstrate how successful you have been in delivering this shift
  • Efficient maintenance also requires critical spares, an analysis of critical assets, manuals, training etc and you will be expected with the ACP to deliver this to support the execution of such
  • In order to get a good understanding of the issues affecting performance, PM compliance and delivery, you will be expected to take a hands on approach in supporting the front line with breakdowns and follow up work. Your response though will be root cause analysis to prevent repeat failures and the analysis of patterns of failures using data to drive maintenance improvements. You will be expected to own and deliver those RCA solutions which may involve for example, operator coaching and training in CIL (Clean,Inspect,Lubricate)/Maintenance task completion
  • Reliability focuses on maintenance effectiveness and you will be expected to move the maintenance plans away from a check and inspect mentality to that of a measure and compare to a standard. To do this you will be expected to be able to organise maintenance improvement sessions using failure data, OEM’s and line teams to help design the best possible maintenance for your assets in order of criticality and using best practice reliability tools and techniques

Skills & Essentials:

  • Understand the difference between reliability and maintenance
  • Can demonstrate the implementation of reliability tools and techniques
  • Can demonstrate effective planning and organisational skills required for major and minor overhauls
  • NVQ Level 4 Mechanical/Electrical qualifications – ideally dual-skilled, or time served apprentice
  • Certified Reliability Leader qualification or demonstrable experience in equivalent
  • Ideally fully conversant in SAPPM and maintenance plan creation
